Course objectives
The exam is intended to verify students' ability: 1) to elaborate a thorough text analyses; 2) to translate the selected text from Spanish to Czech; 3) to reflect on translation problems.
Learning outcomes
Students are able to make use of their theoretical knowledge in text analysis. Students are also able to translate texts on selected topics and they can make comments on the translation problems as well as on the possible solutions.
Syllabus
  • Written exam consisting in three parts: 1) Text analysis 2) Translation from Spanish to Czech 3) Commentary on translation problems and solutions The translation is written in a computer room in Word. You can use online dictionaries, terminological databases, encyclopedias, parallel texts. The thesis is written in 4 lessons (4 x 45 minutes).

Teaching methods
Written test. When translating, the student demonstrates the ability to independently link their theoretical knowledge and translation skills with a specific text.
Assessment methods
Written translation with commentary. The source text has a length of about 2 pages.
