The language of the course is Czech Sign Language. The students are required to master the knowledge of the language.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with the Deaf community and its culture, which still remain unknown for the most part of the hearing majority. The lecturer will explain the difference between "deaf" and "Deaf" and tell about the Deaf history and significant Deaf personalities. The knowledge the students acquire will facilitate their contact with the Deaf community and enable better mutual understnading.
Learning outcomes
The students are familiar with the culture, history and important figures of the Deaf community. The students understand the differences between the Deaf community and the majority in the Czech Republic. They are able to explain the most frequent types of misunderstandings that raise between these two groups.

Teaching methods
Seminar in Czech Sign languages, occasionally with interpreting to Czech: work with the lecturer, exercises, discussion, work with the video materials, presenting and work with Powerpoint.
Assessment methods
The final presentation of the seminar work.
