Course objectives
The goal of the course is to be acquainted with systems of symbols in Asian countries and offer a description of their use.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course a student will be able to:
- understand the use of symbols with help of various theoretical approaches
- describe various types of symbols
- understand the use of symbols in ethno-political contexts and historical development
- identify specific symbols of particular Asian countries and their adoption in modern globalised culture

  • Specific symbolism of particular Asian countries and their environmental background
  • Asian symbols in syncretism and modern pop-culture
