Course objectives
In this course the students will have to deal with the translation of various, mostly journalist texts of varying expressivity and technical difficulty. Further, the students will read theoretical, critical and essayistic texts on translation theory and practice. The course is aimed at extending the knowledge of the basic translation techniques, understanding and analysis of theoretical and journalist texts on translation and engaging in discussion on a number of topics relevant to literary translation, such as literary translation and creativity, literary translation and interpretation, translatorial and editorial work etc.
Learning outcomes
Students will encounter different types of commercial texts in this course and will learn to solve translation problems of texts and search in glossaries and translation databases.
