Course objectives
The course covers fundamental computer graphics algorithms and methods for modeling and rendering. At the end of the course students should be able to orient themselves in a broad spectrum of computer graphics problems and understand the underlying math foundations and programming issues as well. They should gain practical knowledge in modeling solids in complex scenes using state-of-art professional software tools.
Syllabus
  • Parametric curves and surfaces in computer graphics: Hermite, Bezier, Coons, NURBS, splitting and joining polynomial curves. Principles of raster graphics devices. Sampling, alias and antialiasing. Raster image transformations, convolution filters. Color perception, color models. Transformation and projection, camera. 3D solid models. FFD modeling. Visibility in image space and object space. Lightning models; smooth rendering. Textures. Global illumination: ray tracing, radiosity. Fractals.

Teaching methods
Lectures with class discussions, tutored labs with dedicated graphics SW, HW assignments in modelling and rendering.
Assessment methods
Homework assignments completed before final examination. Final assessment is based on written exam.
