Course objectives
The course explains basic mechanisms of the uptake and transport of all nutrients important for growth of plants. Functions of macro- and micronutrients in plant tissues are described in detail and the topics connected with an availability of nutrients to plants are also discussed. The differences between natural ecosystems and agricultural ecosystems in nutrient cycling and use are explained as well as possible disorders in plant metabolism promoted by very low or too high concentration of nutrients in an environment.
