Course objectives
Types of human infections according to the source: anthroponoses, zoonoses and sapronoses. Epidemic process. Natural focality of diseases. Emerging infections. Epidemiological surveillance, prevention of microbial zoonoses and sapronoses. Haematophagous arthropods (ixodid ticks, insects) as vectors of microbial diseases. Vertebrates as hosts of microbial zoonoses and sapronoses. A systematic survey of microbial zoonoses and sapronoses. Distribution and ecology of their etiologic agents: viruses, rickettsiae, other bacteria, microfungi, protozoa (the latter only briefly).
