Course objectives
The students will learn how to work on computers in the computer lab at the the Department of Mathematics and the fundamentals of the operating system Linux. In the following they will learn how to use Internet services. At the end they will learn the HTML a TeX languages, with the emphasis on the typesetting of mathematics.
Syllabus
  • Internet. TCP/IP Protocol. IP adress. Unix (Linux). E-mail, Electronic Newsgroups and Listservs of interest to mathematicians. Telnet, SSH, FTP. World Wide Web (Netscape), WWW search - Google. HTML, creating web pages. TeX, mathematics in TeX.
