Course objectives
Bacterial cell as form of existence of living matter. Organization of bacterial cell. Function of structures of bacterial cell. Growth of individual cell. Bacterial populations. Growth of bacterial population in static culture. Continuous culture of bacteria. Bacterial metabolism. Energetic metabolism of chemoorganotrophs. Energetic metabolism of chemolithotrophs. Energetic metabolism of photosyntetic bacteria. Biosynthesis of small molecules. Biosynthesis of macromolecules. Regulation mechanisms in bacterial cell. Regulation of some metabolic pathways. Enzymes as represors. Main objectives can be summarized as folows: - flow of matter, energy and information in bacterial cell - condition for growth and reproduction of bacteria - way of ATP production - relationship between catabolism and anabolism - regulation mechanisms in bacterial cell
