- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Applied Physics (programme PřF, B-AF, specialization Astrophysics)
- Physics (programme PřF, N-FY)
- Course objectives
- Common methods of data processing and astronomical observations are learned. Students will have ability to process common astronomical data (acquired by both optical telescopes and spacecrafs) including their intrepretation.
- Syllabus
- Spherical astronomy (determination of angular distances, geographical coordinates, refraction).
- Astrometry (methods used for CCD and digital cameras, determination of proper motions, positions of comets, asteroids, Moon's mountains).
- Photometry (methods of CCD photometry, determination of magnitudes of variable objects, determination of fluxes, photometrical calibration, Solar constant).
- Spectroscopy (building of own spectroscope, determination of stellar spectra, basic physical parameters of stellar atmospheres).
- Literature
- Teaching methods
- Laboratory exercises. Homeworks.
- Assessment methods
- Processed data with results and their interpretation as homeworks are assessmented. The final assessment is taken view on quality of reports and deadlines.
