Course objectives
Review of the most important taxons of helminths, characteristic, morphology, development, typical representatives. Overview of the main groups of helminths, their characteristics, morphology, development, representatives. Practical demonstrations of hosts´disections, preparation of helminth samples for other analyses. Examples of diagnostic methods. Microscopy - histological slides.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge of morphology, life cycles, ontogenesis of the main groups of helminths and their representatives. Knowledge of how to process a sample of biological material - a worm/host for morphological or molecular analysis and/or diagnostics.

  • Trematoda - Aspidogastrea, Digenea; Monogenea - Dactylogyrodae, Gyrodactylidae, Diplozoidae ;, Cestoda - Gyrocotylide, Amphilinide, Eucestoda; Nematoda; Acanthocephala. Life cycles, examination methods, diagnostics.
