Course objectives
This course is compiled from various lectures on anthropological and archaeological themes. These lectures are held by specialists from Czech Republic and abroad. The main objective of the course is to introduce the latest findings in anthropology and related fields of science to the students of anthropology. The goal of the course is also to enrich regular frontal tuition by actively discussing the topics among the students and visiting professors and by an active participation in the education process.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student should be able to interconnect the information he/she learns from various disciplines closely or more losely related to anthropology and use the acquired information for further study. The student should be able to understand the holistic approach to anthropology and the width of anthropology's scope across scientific disciplines and also to actively participate in an scientific discussion.
Syllabus
  • Presentations by invited specialists in selected fields of anthropology or related disciplines and active discussion. The presentations are presented alternatively in Czech and English.
Literature
Teaching methods
Lectures of invited speakers, followed by open discussion. The students are motivated to participate, ask questions and to express their opinions. Their questions and discussions contributions can be placed directly in the class verbally or relayed through a shared group on MS Teams to the teacher who will aks the visiting speaker as a proxy.
Assessment methods
To earn credit presence at the seminars is required, one unexcused absence is tolerated. Participation is recorded in an attendance list.
