Abstract
The aim of the course is to extend the basic mathematical knowledge from M1035 and C1471 and to show selected problems and specifics of their solution in practice using a computer.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be able to apply the selected methods on real examples using a computer (Python, data libraries, data visualization).
Key topics
  • 1. Problems with the representation of real numbers in a computer.
  • 2. Dimensionality reduction and visualization of n-dimensional data.
  • 3. Cluster analysis and its applications.
  • 4. Optimization and parameterization of methods.
  • 5. Practical solution of systems of linear equations (deficiencies of Gaussian elimination, LU decomposition).
