Course objectives
A new separation method for separation of macromolecules and particles, which does not employs the chemical affinity. The principle was exactly described mathematically by J.C.GIddings.
Syllabus
  • History of Field-flow fractionation (FFF). Physical principles of FFF. Derivation of retention ration for the normal mode of FFF. Other modes ("steric", hyperlayer, focusing). Techniques of FFF: thermal FFF, flow FFF, sedimentation FFF, Gravitational FFF, electric FFF. Application of FFF for physical measurements, analytical use - separation and characterization of macromolecules.
