- Course objectives
- The course is focused on basics of XML technology, creation and processing of XML documents and electronic publishing. At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand principles of XML language; create and process XML documents.

- Documents publishing and archiving: history and present. XML: advantages, current and future usage, syntax, tools
- Formal specification of document structure and its validation I - DTD
- Name spaces. XHTML: structure of web document, basic elements and attributes of XHTML
- Visualization of XML documents using CSS technology
- SVG: vector graphics in XML
- Introduction to XPath
- Introduction to XSLT
- XSL FO - XML document formating for print output
- Formal specification of document structure and its validation II - Relax NG
