The ending of courses F1251 and F 2252 - Basis of astronomy 1 and 2 and basic courses of physics is recommended.

Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to learn students to understand basic laws of the structure and evolution of the Universe.
Syllabus
  • 1) Where is located the centre of the Universe? Evolution of views of Universe and our position in it. Cosequences of homogeniety and isotropy of Universe. Has Universe a fractal structure? The past and future of the expanding Universe. Measurements of distances in the Universe. The Hubble constant, deceleration factor. Newtonian a Einsteinian models of the Universe. Possible fates of the Universe. 3) The Big Bang and what was before and after it. The nature of the Big bang. Povaha velkého třesku. Odkud se vzalo ve vesmíru hélium a proč v něm chybí antihmota. 4) Cosmologic paradoxa of all kind: gravitational, photometric, thermodynamic - thermal death of the Universe. Antropic principle and the concept of the multiversum. 5) Cosmic building elements and CV of the Universe. Relic radiation spill the beans... COBE, WMAP. What is our Universe made of, what is it dark matter, dark energy, quintessence? What the Universe is in for?

Teaching methods
2 h classical lectures, exercises, consultations, oral exam
Assessment methods
Oral examination lasting half an hour, before published questions + 1 hour for preparation, all tools are allowed except of tution with examining teacher. Preferentially, bloc examination of 4-5 students together.
