- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to create the special platform for PhD students of selected fields of Biology providing them with opportunity (1) to become familiar with procedure of PhD thesis defense, (2) to get overview on research efforts in the other laboratories supervising PhD students and their methodical and instrumental facilities, (3) to get opportunity to attend the lectures given by top Czech and foreign experts in the field.
- Learning outcomes
- Getting experience with oral presentation of research work; body language and communication with audience during the talk; preparation of underlying powerpoint presentation; organisation of the PhD. thesis defence; scientific discussion; reactions to quetions of oponents.
- Syllabus
- There is no stable outline of the lectures. The program is getting updated according to the actual schedule of the PhD thesis defenses and the presence of external lecturers.

- Teaching methods
- The course is based on listening the lectures given either by students defending their PhD theses or by Czech or foreign scientists and following discussions.

- To succesfully pass the course, the attendance of at least three lectures in each semester is required.
