- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the latest findings in the field of medical genetics, genomics and human molecular biology. The concept of the course is based on a collaborative approach with the prestigious professional societies e.g. European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG - www.eshg.org) and American Society of Human Genetics. These societies, in support of the teaching of genetics at European universities, provide access to recordings of invited lectures by world-leading experts presented at recent annual conferences as part of Educational Sessions, Medel Lectures or Award Lectures. The lectures are presented in English, and the seminar includes a discussion on each topic. The lecture topics are updated annually. Students have the opportunity to choose some of the lectures.
- Learning outcomes
- Students after completing the course: - through web-based presentations, they will experience the environment of world conferences and will be able to listen to and see presentations by the world's leading experts in the field of human genetics; - learn about the latest knowledge and advances in medical genetics, genomics, human molecular biology; - expand their basic knowledge of the human genome and the nature of some genetically determined diseases - become familiar with the practical application of the latest genetic and molecular biological techniques used for clinical genomics; - expand their active and passive knowledge of the English language - the course contributes to the internationalisation of teaching
