Course objectives
The aim of the lecture is to understand the principles of hydrochemistry and water treatment technologies.
Learning outcomes
Students will understand the principles of hydrochemistry, principles of both raw water and waste water treatment technologies.

  • Physico-chemical properties of water, pH
  • Gases, carbon in water, carbonate equilibria
  • Iron and manganese in water
  • Water clarification
  • Filtration, adsortpion
  • Hygienic water quality
  • Water hardness, ionex
  • Microorganismsm in water, principles of microbiological processes
  • Waste water, waste water treatment facility
  • Activation, aeration
  • Reducing of nitrogen and phosphor in waste water
  • Biofilm reactors, natural waste water treatment
  • Anaerobic processes, sludge processing
