Title: Visual Analytics in Cybersecurity Education

Abstract: Cyber threats and attacks are becoming routine in our society, and their intensity and complexity are growing. A significant global shortage of cybersecurity workers equipped with the skills to prevent or respond to attacks can be aided by the hands-on training of new professionals. One approach that can enhance hands-on cybersecurity education is visual analytics. It uses visual representations and interactive techniques to help analysts and decision-makers understand and interpret complex data. It can help identify patterns and trends that may not be immediately apparent from raw data. This is useful for recognizing unusual or conspicuous activity and situations in the data. Visual analytics can also detect anomalies that may indicate potential flaws or issues in the training design or progression. Additionally, it can help understand the relationships between different variables in cybersecurity data, which is essential for identifying the factors contributing to security threats. The goal of this thesis is to merge the principles of visual analytics with hands-on practical education and provide a basis for further development and enhancement to aid the situation in the area of cybersecurity.
