This teaching unit is dedicated to security cooperation on an international level. The presentation opens with a general introduction to the topic, before exploring a few specific examples of international security cooperation (organisations, unions and initiatives), across time (past/present) and continents.

We will start our security cooperation journey by focusing on several regional organizations and initiative. Our first stop is Asia (The six party talks, aimed at dismantling North Korea's nuclear program). We will then move on to North America, and discuss the Security and Prosperity Partnership between the US, Canada and Mexico. Returning home to Europe, we will talk about the OSCE, the organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, alongside the European Defence Community and the Western European Union. 

After examining the two most central security organisations in modern political history: NATO (The North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the Warsaw pact, we will conclude with a short comparative analysis.
