Week 1: Introduction to the Course + Topic

This teaching unit will introduce students to the course (syllabus, structure, goals, requirements, etc.) alongside the general topics that will be explored during the semester. 

A preliminary discussion will be held in class. Please consider the following questions ahead of time, and think of possible answers:

1. What was your experience visiting/studying in Germany/Switzerland/Austria?
2. Why are you interested in learning about these countries? why do you think it's important? 
3. What do you think are the main similarities and differences between these countries? Are they more similar or distinct? 

We will close the session with a short, interactive Trivia game about Germany and Austria. Students will be able to participate in the game in real-time using their laptops or smart devices via the "Socrative" platform (https://b.socrative.com/login/student/).
