Introduction to Czech Private Law in European Context

To successfully pass the course following criteria have to be fulfilled: 

a) active participation in lectures (up to 12 points)

b) presentation of the chosen topic in one of two final lectures (up to 88 points)

each student should, till the end of March 2023, choose a topic covering particular aspects of private law in the European context and prepare a presentation (up to 20-30 minutes long) that would provide a comparative overview of the issue (e.g. with a focus on EU laws, ECtHR, CoE, academic initiatives, tendencies and trends within Europe, the approach taken by national legislation) List o the topics:

a. Compensation for damage caused by an animal (supervisor: Josef Bártů)

b. Divorce in Europe (supervisor: Martin Kornel)

c. Conflict of Interests in the Law of Representation (supervisor: Luboš Brim)

d.  Thing in a legal sense in comparison of Czech and domestic law (supervisor: Adam Holubář)

e. Legal Persons, Corporations, Foundations, Introduction to Company Law  - to be agreed specifically with supervisor (supervisor: Martin Schauer)

f. Succession and Trusts - to be agreed specifically with supervisor (supervisor: Kateřina Ronovská)

g. State's Power to Restrict Parental Responsibility in comparative perspective (Czech x chosen law)  (supervisor: Veronika Kissová)


The presentation will take place in the last two lectures of the course.
