Self-study: Week 4 Visual impairment

Visual impairment

Dear students,

this week you are going to work on your own. You can work either individually or contact a classmate from the course and work together (in English!;-)

Download the document below and work through the tasks. You will post some of them in the discussion forums below.

You have two weeks to work on this. I suggest working on the tasks regularly, bit by bit.

After your have completed the tasks, write a short reflection where you will say what you have learnt from the activities, what you found useful/useless, challenging or too easy, enjoyable or boring, for example. It would be good if you related this to your SMART goals. Write about 150 words or record yourself (1.5 - 3 minutes) and post to the discussion forum.

There are some optional tasks which are not part of the handout, however, you might find them useful since they discuss the topic at hand. You can find them here in week 4 under Extra tasks.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

How to make and post a recording

Part of Task 7 is to make a recording.
How to do it?

1. Use a recording application, for example vocaroo or rev recorder.

2. Save your file as mp3 and upload it to the homework vault.

3. Copy the adress of your mp3 file (you need to click on the button next to the file) and then click Copy address (kopírovat adresu) in the right-hand side menu.

4. Link the address to the discussion forum (Task 7).

Task 8

For task 8, you might want to watch the video How to summarise.

How to play the recording for Listening 2

Go to the website below. On the right-hand side choose the recording labelled as Quide dogs and white canes (should be 8th recording on the list).

There are two parts.
First listen about quide dogs (0:00 - 1:17)

Then, focus on part two about white canes (1:18 - 2.46)
