The study programme of the tertiary education sphere develops further expert education of university graduates with a focus on the fields of the Czech language and Czech literature studies. The specificity of the field of study focused on language and literary communication lies in the interconnections of language and literature. This concept follows the most influential approaches in contemporary linguistics and literary science.

The characteristics and structure of the courses are instrumental in forming the graduate’s specialization and opening up their possibilities for finding employment. The courses are focused on the development of standards in linguistics, stylistics and communication, on literary communication in period and present literary-historical contexts, and they are also focused on specific linguistic and cultural functions of expressions used in language and literary communication. The emphasis is put on interpretation of various texts – literary texts of fiction, language messages and metatext, etc.

The aim is to prepare graduates for independent research and expert work. Therefore, the core of the progamme includes individual research preparation connected with the systematic development of expert knowledge in the field of study and writing a doctoral thesis, and also mediation of expert knowledge to the public and its application in practice.
