Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to exercise an orientation in the basic knowledge of functioning of the economy. They acquire dispositions for better understanding of the contemporary world. They will gain insight into the nature of the basic economic concepts.

  • 6. quantitative theory of money and inflation (chapter 28)

  • 8. open economy - basic concepts (chapter 29)
  • 9. open economy - a model (chapter 30)
  • 10. AD and AS (chapter 31)
  • 11. impact of monetary and fiscal policies on AD (chapter 32)

Teaching methods
The course has a form of a lecture and a seminar. Credit requirements: 3 credit progress tests, active participation in seminars. The students have to fill self-correcting exercises in the IS during every week in the semester.
Assessment methods
The course is concluded by a written exam. The test is to be taken during the exam period. If the student is caught during the examination performing any form of forbidden activity (for example: cribbing, allowing cribbing, using non-permitted materials and devices, exchanging tests, creating copies of tests, or substituting for other student), the teacher will stop the exam and according to the seriousness of the offence the student will be graded F, or FF or even FFF.
