Anotace
The course discusses the developments in the EU from the end of the Cold War until today. It focuses on relevant issues of the integration process. It is based on lectures, class discussions and presentations of various positions presented in the debates (group projects / own positions). The objectives of the course are to explain the modern development of the EU, analyse key points in particular areas of integration and practise argumentation skills.
Výstupy z učení
At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the development of the EU after the end of the Cold War will become familiar with the institutional “landscape” of the European Union. They will be able to explain the main changes of the European integration process after 1989 and discuss the fundamental issues of the recent development of the EU as well. They will be able to present and demonstrate arguments on a given topic. They will be encouraged to work in groups and present the results of this work in the class. Students will be also well-oriented in searching for relevant information which can be used as a background material for preparing individual papers and group projects.

Přístupy, postupy a metody používané ve výuce
The course consists of lectures mixed together with seminars including class discussions. Students are expected to prepare position papers and specific group projects. Both are presented in the class. The discussion should introduce a wide range of arguments and points of view. During the course, a Mid-term test will be written, consisting of closed questions and 1 open question. In the end of the course final exam is written, with open questions.
Způsob ověření výstupů z učení a požadavky na ukončení
All the course requirements are necessary to complete the course and to receive a final grade (A-F). Every student must submit  3 short papers out of 4 topics that are offered, participate in 1 group project, complete the Mid-term test (composed of 5 closed questions, each max. 1 point and 1 open question, max. 6 points) and complete the final test (composed of 5 open questions, each max. 5 points).
