Anotace
The main aim of the course is to understand the relation between democracy, state and conflicts in Africa. The course is composed of 6 sessions (each session lasts 90 minutes).
Výstupy z učení
Students will be able to outline key issues of democratization in Africa and explain the nature and sources of various conflicts on the continent.

Group project (20% of the final grade).
Final written exam based on the lectures and readings (80% of the final grade).
Attendance 100% - students are required to be present at EVERY session.

Prof. Dr. Siegmar Schmidt is Professor for International Relations and Comparative Government at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany. His research interests and a wide range of publications focus on African politics, development issues, foreign policy of Western states and European integration.
