- Course objectives
- Main objectives can be summarized as follows: - to understand the basic of methodology of security and strategic studies(qualitative and quantitative reserach). - to learn the history of methodology of security and strategic studies. - to analyze main approaches, methods, techniques etc.
- Syllabus
- The course is organized as a series of weekly topics which include lectures, required reading, and smoe required videos and tohe multimedia. The weekly topics includes: 1. Introduction to methodology of security and strategic studies (Smolík), 2. Basic approach to research of security (Mareš) 3. Analysis of security (Smolík) 4. Methodological schools, approachs and theories (Mareš) 5. Quantitative techniques of data acquisition (Smolík) 6. Qualitative techniques of data acquisition (Smolík) 7. The use of nformation technology in security studies research (Bastl) 8. The use of information technology in data processing (Bastl) 9. Analysis of threats and risks (Smolík) 10. Analysis of strategic thought and behavior (Chytilek) 11. Analysis of conflicts (Mareš/Smolík) 12. Policy analysis (Mareš/Smolík) 13. Prognostics in security and strategic studies (Bastl) 14. Exam

- Students are expectet to read the assigned literature before class and to attend every lecture. Students will receve a final letter grade (A-F) for the semester based on the following components: - final exam - 40 points. - essay - 20 points
