Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the development and key issues of Baltic foreign policy. Attention will be paid first to the ideological foundations of the Baltic states and a brief overview of the Baltic's foreign policy concepts in the 20th century. Then the position of Batic states in international relations in 1989/1990, the year of the beginning of independent Baltic's foreign policy, will be explained. This will be followed by an outline of the legislative framework and an introduction to the main actors of the foreign policy. The main part of the course will be devoted to particular issues and areas that play an important role in Batic foreign policy. For each of the topics, the development of foreign policy since 1990 will be presented with an emphasis on the main milestones, the internal political and internal social debate in the Batic states will be analysed, including the causes that shaped them, and the current state and problems in the field will be outlined. The course will also include one lecture with a selected expert.
