Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquire basic knowledge of intervention approaches and strategies in the framework of the educational area Language and language communication.
Learning outcomes
After completing the discipline: . the student will be able to manage the specific problems of teaching of the Czech language on 1. st. the elementary school with pupils with special educational needs. . the student knows specific problems of teaching Czech on 1st st. primary schools with pupils with special educational needs. . The student can apply individual reading methods for pupils with SEN.
Syllabus
The position of the educational area Language and language communication in education for the first grade of primary school. The framework educational program for basic education. Educational fields of study of the subject " Czech language and its position in the education of pupils with specific learning disabilities. Psychological foundations of teaching reading, writing, the development of methods writing and reading. Methods of teaching of elementary reading and writing. The readers and literacy, approaches and strategies for teaching reading. The specifics of the reading errors. Differentiation and individualization in the teaching of the Czech language. Specific learning disorders, intervention and reeducation. The issue of access to pupils with specific learning difficulties in the Czech language. The importance of didactic games in the acquisition of reading skills. The lessons of the organizational forms of teaching, the structure of the lesson. Alternative methods in teaching reading and writing The specifics of the evaluation in the educational process.

Teaching methods
Interactive seminar, group discussions, cooperative learning, assigned reading, critical thinking, presentation of the good practice examples.
Assessment methods
Active participation in the seminar.
Written test (75% correct answers are required to pass the test).
The make-up exam will be in the form of an oral exam.
Sophisticated preparation with regard to the development of functional literacy, demonstration of differentiated work with text with subject matter overlap.
Náhradní absolvování
The course will be completed with an examination. The requirements for being granted the examination are: 1. Preparation focusing on the development of functional literacy, including a demonstration of differentiated work with a text and cross-curricular overlap – to be submitted to the SUBMISSION SYSTEM. 2. Creating a teaching aid with a focus on developing reading literacy (e.g., pictures from fairy tales with cards showing the titles of the stories) and linking it with additional tasks related to the aid (e.g., cut-up sentences from fairy tales to be arranged in chronological order, inventing rhymes, etc.) - – to be submitted to the SUBMISSION SYSTEM. 3. A written online test – to successfully pass, a minimum of 75% correct answers is required.
