Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to examine more thoroughly some issues related to the English lexis, often in comparison with Czech and other languages. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand, interpret and apply correctly selected linguistic phenomena, such as the semantic relations between lexical items, lexical hierarchies and other lexical configurations, semantic analysis, productive word-formation processes in present-day English, stylistic synonyms, scientific terminologies, professional jargons, lexical change, etc.
