Course objectives
In the course students are provided with a comprehensive view of knowledge about the importance, functions and classification of business in all major contexts. Development trends in trade are explained. Attention is paid to assortment issues and retail units within the retail network and outside the retail network. It explains the formation of retail prices, the importance and use of discounts, the nature of the payment system. Individual wholesale and retail operations in business units, business logistics in the context of the logistics chain as well as shop layout with respect to shopping environment and atmosphere are analyzed.

Knowledge: theoretical anchorage of individual areas of business and commercial business
Skills: practical application of theoretical approaches in business activities
Attitudes: distinguish between different forms of business activities related to different forms of business units in making informed business decisions
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to define the basic concepts and mutual relations in the field of trade and commercial business with emphasis on the classification of goods, the structure of business assortment, business category, systematization of business units, wholesale and retail operations and will be able to apply these information at practical examples.

The course takes the form of lectures, discussions, solving thematically oriented examples and independently processed project.
Assessment methods
The course is completed by a colloquium in the form of oral discussion over the written preparation.
