Prerequisites
The subject is designed as a practice focused on the development of personality and social educator’s competences. 1. Active involvement in all blocks If you want to work with people, you should know yourself well. This course is an opportunity to learn more about yourself individually or throughout the group, which you work in. Regular attendance at the group meetings is essential of the effective approach to self-experience training. Your absence at the group meetings means loss not only for the participant but for the group as well. It everybody’s responsibility to decide how much they want to invest into their personality development. 2. Paper: written self-reflection: part 1 - “Who am I?” (a letter written to student himself with every paragraph beginning the same (at least ten times) part 2 - My book I., II., III. - a book / a film which developed both the student personally and his life. (overview of the book and recommendation) part 3 – Written self-reflection of me and my relationships in a study group and in my life. part 4 – Complete methodology and structure description of the lesson + self-reflection of the leading under the supervision part 5 – Feedback group interview at the end of every term, topic: My self-knowledge and self-experience gained throughout the course, My self-knowledge and self-experience in interpersonal development (Me X Me). Based on the group feedback, self-awareness, own social skills, qualities, motivation, roles and attitudes, the student tries to answer various questions e.g.: What did I expect and has it been fulfilled at the end of the course? Experience gained is …, Personal experiences are …, What does personality development / preparation mean to me? Which way of study do I consider crucial? Which literature related to the topic am I familiar with?

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen students’ self-concept towards themselves, others and towards their profession. On theoretical level the course aims to pass basic knowledge considering the development of personality and social competences of educators. Interaction, communication and contact with a person (relation) is a tool of a worker in helping professions, therefore it is essential to develop social skills of the workers in helping professions (where teachers / educators belong to). At the end of the course the student will be able to: • understand the terms related to PSE (personality and social education). • present and interpret a publication related to PSE. • use the reference from publications of PSE • discuss the position of PSE in the Czech Republic • be familiar with the topics of: Personality and social education. Topics of PSE – duty of every school. PSE essentials for teachers. Methodology principals of PSE. Didactic cycle of PSE. Methodology of PSE. Possible education in PSE. Systems of games and exercises, Games, techniques and exercises. The aims are to offer the students: • opportunity of developing personality and social competences, personality and profession development in relation to practice (current / future) in helping professions. • - searching for answers to the questions – Who am I? What am I like? What do I worry about? What matters to me? What do / don’t I manage? How do I affect other people etc. • basic approach to understanding other people. To enhance the desire to “work on myself” from the perspective of both personal and professional development. To experience the way “I react and will react to the changing conditions”.
Learning outcomes
Student: ● is orientated in contemporary methods and techniques of personal and social development focused on the area of intrapersonal phenomena ● is able to interprete the personality concept in the context of PSD (Personal-social development) towards oneself and practically manages to develop his/her personality in this field • has a clear level of own experience in the intrapersonal phenomena ● is able to assess his / her behavior and behavior towards himself / herself within the group in which he/she „grows"
Syllabus
  • The study of the personality social preparation is divided into 3 parts and can be compared to a “glimpse” of self-experience training, which consists of 3 related parts: 1. Self-knowledge phase: The main goal is the development in self-knowledge and self- concept. The core of this phase is: ability of self-reflection, personality as a tool, optimization of self-concept, finding the personal potential, dealing with stress and inner conflicts, leading oneself. 2. Interaction phase: The main goal is optimization and development of social skills. The core of this phase is: ability of communication and cooperation, self-presentation, assertiveness, mediation, body language, argumentation, asking questions, social and emotional intelligence. 3. Training phase: The main goal is to train leading an activity in a group under the supervision of participants and lecturers in safe environment of the training group even before the real practice in an organization / institution. The core of this phase is: group work, group dynamics, cohesion, atmosphere, theoretical preparation, creative thinking, leading oneself and others
