- Cíle předmětu
- The huge work of Iris Murdoch is little known in this country. It is the aim of this course to introduce students to two of her later novels (the Booker Prize-winning The Sea, the Sea and The Book and the Brotherhood) and a selection of theoretical and philosophical texts and attempt to look at Murdoch's fiction in the light of her views on novel writing and her moral philosophy. The course materials will also include criticism of Iris Murdoch by A.S. Byatt, Peter Conradi, Martin Hilský and others. The course will develop the students' skills of critical thinking, literary analysis and work with secondary literature.
