Course objectives
Persian and its geographical, lingvistical, cultural and historical background. With concentration on language structure and the basic vocabulary. At the end of this course, students should be able to to use vocabulary in these main themes: "greetings"; "days of the week"; "months"; "colours"; "family"; "job"; "orientation in the town"; "culture".
Syllabus
  • Persian, Iran and its geographical, historical, cultural and linguistic development.
  • CD presentation: a choice, e. g. Persepolis, Isfahan, Tabriz, Tehran;
  • History: since dynasty Achamenid till Pahlaví dynasty; 1st World War; 2nd World War; Islamic Republic (1979);
  • Science and culture: e. g. Avicenna, Sadi, Hafez.
  • Languages of Iran – a brief history of the development towards modern language Persian (Farsi); sociolinquistical relations of Iranian languages (Farsi, Dari, Tajiki);
  • Structure of Farsi with concentration on vocabulatory (textbook).
