Course objectives
The seminar is devoted to Jan Neruda, a leading representative of the "Máj" group. It deals with, from a comparative perspective, Neruda's poetry, prose fiction, drama and literary criticism. The students will learn about Neruda's contribution to the "Máj" group literary programme and about the development of Czech literature of the late 19th century. Individual seminars will be devoted to the analysis of selected writings by Jan Neruda and other authors; the week-to-week programme will be specified in view to the participants' knowledge.
Syllabus
