Cíle předmětu
According to Putnam (1993; 2000; 2004), Coleman (1988), Greeley (1997) and others, congregations and religious communities play a most important role in the fostering of voluntary actions of their members. The ‘religious reasons’ as motivations for civic and even political participation play a most significant role in the society of the United States and in the societies of Europe as well. The aforementioned authors conclude that religious involvement plays a major role in the creation of social capital. This type of social capital might be regarded as ‘religious social capital’. This course will try to grasp the religious background of the social capital theory.
