Course objectives
At the beginning of the course the survey of the development of Macedonian literature of inter war period is given. The merit of the entire course lies in the development of Macedonian literature after 1945. The lecture emphasize a new evolutionary phase of the Macedonian literature from the second part of the 50th on – poetry development. The depiction of the development of Macedonian post-war prose is an important part of it, novel development. The lecture mentions also the development of drama and is ended by a list of the youngest generation of Macedonian poets, novelists and dramatists. The seminar work (the seminar makes an extension of the lecture) consist in authors' texts reading.
Syllabus
  • At the beginning of the course the survey of the development of Macedonian literature of inter war period is given (the matter of study ends with the codification of literary Macedonian in 1945 and the establishment of Macedonian republic within the frame of FPRY). Opening lessons focus on the literature that had resulted from Ilinden's uprising and Balkan wars. Following lessons mainly concentrate on the development of Macedonian inter war literature, preferably on dramatic works of the most important dramatists like Vasil Iljoski, Risto Krle, Anton Panov, who had interpreted the social problems of their times in dramas (lessons involve the projection of the staging of some of dramas). Presented pieces are then analyzed and explicated). No less important is the literary work of Kosta Solev Racin (expressionistic and social lyrics), who is treated as a founder of a modern Macedonian poetry. To addition to that the poetry work of WWII, too, is studied, Makedonskiot literaturen kružok vo Sofija (Kole Nedelkovski, Mite Bogoevski, Venko Markovski). The merit of the entire course lies in the development of Macedonian literature after 1945. The discourse 1) presents the involvement of Macedonian literature into the other Yugoslavian literatures and their development’s tendencies 2) describes the division into modernists and realists; narrates about post-war literature with the theme of war (Blaže Koneski, Gogo Ivanovski and others). The lecture emphasize a new evolutionary phase of the Macedonian literature from the second part of the 50th on – poetry development (Srbo Ivanovski, Mateja Matevski, Ante Popovski, Cane Andreevski, Radoslav Pavlovski, Bogomil Gjuzel and others). The depiction of the development of Macedonian post-war prose is an important part of it (Jovan Boškovski, Georgi Abadžiev, Ivan Točko a další), novel development (Stale Popov, Vlado Maleski, Taško Georgievski, Petre M. Andreevski, Živko Čingo, Jovan Pavlovski, Borislav Pavlovski and others). The lecture mentions also the development of drama (Kole Čašule, Tome Arsovski, Goran Stefanovski, Jordan Plevneš, Rusomir Bogdanovski) and is ended by a list of the youngest generation of Macedonian poets, novelists and dramatists.
