Cíle předmětu
K.Hay is both an artist and a theorist of art. The dual aspect of thinking and making are inseparable halves of an on-going practice which is constantly evolving and trying to redefine itself. One half of "Moorland Productions" artistic team with Seetha A., his practical work has been exhibited in three Venice Biennales, and many group and solo exhibitions around the world. His theoretical work addresses issues of modernity and postmodernity, intersemiotic translatability, and in particular Italian 19th and 20th-century aesthetic theory. He has a particular interest in attempted rationalisations of the relationship between art practice and research, or art and cognition, and has published on art and architecture history and theory, film, philosophy and cultural criticism. He has also worked as a translator and editor. The lecture series will explore some issues and dilemmas in contemporary art practice, history and theory, particularly viewed from within the theory/practice dialectic.
