Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to help students situate their own research with respect to current trends in Applied Linguistics. Students read work on a sub-field of Applied Linguistics related to their research projects with the aims of deepening knowledge of current research and systematically relating this knowledge to issues in their own work. Note: this course is only suitable for students who have already reached the stage of drafting their dissertation
Výstupy z učení
Students are acquainted with general theoretical and conceptual issues in Applied Linguistics, especially as related to language acquisition/learning/teaching. They will be able to describe and reflect critically on such trends. Students can demonstrate how their own research contributes to debates in the field. Students will develop deeper knowledge of theories in Applied Linguistics as well as research methods used in the field.
