Cíle předmětu
The aim of this course is to apply the skills and knowledge required for qualitative field research with focus on participant observation and conduction of interviews.
Výstupy z učení
After completing this cross-cultural and transdisciplinary internship course, students will acquire first-hand fieldwork experiences, they will be able to develop their own research project based on the methodological framework of participant observation and conduction of interviews, evaluate, and determine sources for their own project, and demonstrate their ability to compile, assess, and analyze information.
Osnova
  • For the MU group, by travelling together with a group of Taiwanese students from Soo Chow University through Central Europe (Budapest, Brno, Krakow, Prague, Dresden, Český Krumlov and Vienna) between July 17 and July 30, 2023, the students will on one hand conduct their own research on the perception of Central Europe through the eyes of Taiwanese students, and on the other hand they will observe how Taiwanese students are conducting their fieldwork in Central Europe.
Výukové metody
For the MU group, before the meeting of the Taiwanese students in Budapest, students will receive a brief online-training by Lu Wei-lun and Ute Wallenböck, so the students are prepared for the fieldtrip.
In this internship course, students become researchers themselves and develop their own research project on the Taiwanese students’ perception of Central Europe. During the almost two-week long fieldtrip, the students will not only observe the Taiwanese students, but they will also conduct interviews in Chinese with them.
Metody hodnocení
For the MU group, students should keep a diary, based on which in the end of the course, a written report (1200 words) must be submitted. Moreover, the students need to help their Taiwanese partners with their assignments, such as the production of a video of their research.
The written report accounts for 100% of the final mark.
