Course objectives
Introduction. Chemical analysis of waste water. Microbiological analysis of wastew water. Aerobis and anaerobic part of cleaning of waste waters. Purification of water.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to - select methods for chemical analysis of waste water - select the methods for the microbiological analysis of waste water - identify a representative species of microorganisms in waste water - design a procedure for finishing water

  • First block
  • Legislation relating to the wastewater treatment.
  • Wastewater composition, pollution indicators.
  • Wastewater collection.
  • Technology of the wastewater treatment plants (mechanical treatment, biological treatment, sludge management).
  • Second block
  • Microbiology of drinking water, bioterrorism.
  • Pathogenic microorganisms in the wastewater.
  • Microbial indicators of wastewater faecal contamination.
  • Waste water disinfection.
  • Microbiology of aerobic purification processes.
  • Microbiology of anaerobic purification processes.
  • Third block
  • Excursion to wastewater treatment plant.
