Der hier verfolgte Ansatz changiert zwischen einer Phänomenologie der Gewalt, wie sie insbesondere in den neueren Ansätzen der Gewaltsoziologie verfolgt wird, und einer konstruktivistischen Perspektive, die Gewalt als gesellschaftliche Zuschreibung ernst nimmt. Statt der Vorstellung einer Zunahme der Gewalttätigkeit mit Straf- und Pädagogikdiskursen zu begegnen, versuchen wir, die Inhalte des Täterbewusstseins zu erfassen. Diese in der zeitgenössischen Diskussion um Gewalt vernachlässigte Perspektive glauben wir mit einer verschränkten Lektüre der Werke von Georges Bataille und Victor Turner einnehmen zu können. Die folgenden Ausführungen zielen darauf ab, Batailles und Turners Beitrag für die Gewaltsoziologie mit empirischen Gewaltphänomenen wie dem Amok, der Folter und dem Hooliganismus zu konfrontieren. Ausgehend von der autistischen Gewaltform des Amokläufers und fortschreitend zur situativ eskalierenden Gewalt der Folter bis hin zur kollektiven Gewalt der Hooligans, zeigen wir den Nutzen, aber auch die Grenzen der Theorien von Bataille und Turner für die Gewaltsoziologie auf.

Our approach is situated between a phenomenology of violence, that is prominent in recent approaches in the phenomenology of violence and a constructivist perspective that takes the social attribution of violence serious. Instead of adopting a pedagogical attitude towards the alleged increase of violence we try to get a grasp on the consciousness of perpetrators. This neglected perspective we try to develop by a synthesis of the works of Georges Bataille and Victor Turner. The paper aims to confront the sociology of violence according to Bataille and Turner with empirical phenomena of violence such as school shootings, torture and hooliganism. Starting with the autistic violence of school shootings to the escalating violence of torture and the collective violence of hooligans we show the usefulness as well as the limits of Bataille's and Turner's theories for the sociology of violence.
