Maps are the main result of cartographers and can be regarded as finite representation of infinite reality, the model of large reality. Inherently of this fact, it is obvious that they must inevitably simplify the actual situation in order to present it to end users. The effectiveness of the decision not only affects the quality of data and information encoded in the map, but by the cartographic communication paradigm also own knowledge and experience of map reader. As well as for technical reasons it is not possible to record all known facts to the maps and cartographer must be limited to the most important of them, in the process of decision making there it is not possible to take into account all the knowledge we have about the context. Therefore it is appropriate to address some characteristic data accuracy and analysis accuracy, such as uncertainty. The aim of this paper is to present empirical research that determines the extent to which the visualisation of uncertainty influence decisions in real solution. The factual context is announcing an outdoor activities reduction due to exceeding of PM10 concentrations and smog formation in the Czech Republic. The whole experiment is designed according to the rules of mixed research, and the paper presents results from the qualitative pre-test.
