In the context of Czech Republic, the historical city centres are also the demographically oldest parts of the biggest cities. Their physical and social structures are changing as a consequence of globalization, increased mobility, de-industrialization, commercialization, disappearing residential functions, or suburbanization – to name a few. How are these accelerating changes, brought in full only with the transformation from a planned to a free market economy in 1990´s, perceived by ageing inhabitants? How these changes influence their sense of control and their agency? Is the agency intervening or outcome variable of their living environment? ER -
