Homogeneous discharges can be generated in helium, neon and nitrogen in volume confguration of electrodes. However the use of coplanar configuration typically leads to a flamentary discharge. We report observation of a stable homogeneous discharge in coplanar config uration in helium. Spatio-temporally resolved profile of electrical field was calculated from the intensity ratio of He lines 667.8nm and 728.1 nm. The intensity distributions of the lines were measured using Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting. The results show two cathode and anode-directed ionizing waves with origin above the anode. ER -
