V originále

This book was prepared by an international team of authors from many European countries. It contains over 300 personal, academic and literary biographies of people who were murdered in the Mauthausen concentration camp or died as a result of imprisonment. The project was carried out by the Association for Remembrance and Historical Research in Austrian Concentration Camp Memorials in cooperation with the Mauthausen Memorial. It was supported and financed by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for the Victims of National Socialism and the Future Fund of the Republic of Austria. This book was also published in German under the title of Gedenkbuch für die Toten des KZ Mauthausen und seiner Außenlager: Kommentare und Biografien.

Kniha je výsledkem spolupráce mezinárodního autorského kolektivu z mnoha evropských zemí. Obsahuje biografie více než 300 významných osobností, které byly zavražděny v koncentračním táboře Mauthausenu nebo zemřely na následky věznění. Projekt byl zaštítěn sdružením Verein für Gedenken und Geschichtsforschung in österreichischen KZ-Gedenkstätten ve spolupráci s organizací Mauthausen Memorial. Podporu a finanční zajištění poskytlo Spolkové ministerstvo vnitra Rakouské republiky, dále Národní fond Rakouské republiky pro oběti nacionálního socialismu a Fond budoucnosti Rakouské republiky. Kniha vyšla také v německé verzi pod názvem Gedenkbuch für die Toten des KZ Mauthausen und seiner Außenlager: Kommentare und Biografien.
