Communication between medical staff and patients is essential for treatments and medical care, influencing patients' quality of life and effective disease treatment. Well-informed patient greatly facilitates recovery and can get better medical care. A well informed patient, will facilitates the treatment, reducing his/her fears, is less likely to has fewer tendencies to sue medical facilities. A good and respectful communication is well-known principle in the medical staff-patient relationship. Communication should express empathy for the patient's pain and suffering, providing the patient with all known facts, because he/she has a need and a right to know about their medical conditions. This audit was performed in surgical units and evaluates several factors of quality of health care services provided by teaching hospitals.
