This paper describes cardiovascular system as a complex. Then it discusses potential heart diseases, which count among frequent civilization diseases our postmodern epoch. The most significant factors involved in the genesis of civilization diseases are divide into factors, which are not suggestible (sex, age and family anamnesis) and into factors, which can be suggestible by nutrition and individual lifestyle. These are: increased level of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol and decreased level of HDL cholesterol in blood, increased level of triacylglycerides in blood, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus type I and II, smoking, obesity and lack of movement. ¨ All these risks factors participate very much in genesis of atherosclerosis (sclerosis of vessels), which be causing in ischemic cordial disease. Angina pectoris and heart attack are the most popular form of ischemic cordial disease. The risk of sudden death is in patients suffer from ischemic cordial disease, especially in these, who suffered from heart attack with serious malfunction of heart function and/or who has serious malfunction of heart rhythm. Then the cause and the prevention of sudden heart failure in sportsmen are analysed.
